WEEK 10: SELF-REFLECTION ABOUT THIS COURSE

Hello peeps. It's finally the final weekly post on this blog! I can't describe how happy I am to finally finish this task on time although sometimes I procrastinate 😂 whatever it is, I'm very proud of myself.

 Okay! For this final blog entry, I will answer all the questions that have been given to us during our meet on tenth week. It's all about the summary of what I've been learning until tenth week, my feelings and so forth.

1) What have you learned throughout this course?

Throughout this course, I have learned so many things. There are times when I attend this class, there were skills I had that I already excelled at, but learning it deeper and deeper with he help of the lecturer makes me improve in so many ways than before. This course taught me how to use educational tools in an advanced way for instance, the Prezi, Canva, power point, MOOC, flipped classroom, teaching techniques using ADDIE method and so on. I've improved a lot during taking this course.

2) What do you like the most about the course and what areas that you think can be improved?

Things that I like the most about this course is that, it taught me that teaching must not always be teaching face to face. There are a lot of methods that we can use to teach our students and how to make our classroom fun and interesting. It's good that we were exposed with these method as we, as the future educators know the right method to teach our students!

3) Your honest opinion on the integration of technology in education

My honest opinion on the integration of technology in education are it is very flexible. It can improve students' learning processes and outcomes in many ways. The integration of technology in education makes our teaching less tiring and less difficult than just explaining theoretical that is most likely boring and less effective.  I think the integration of technology in education helps educators to deliver the learning effectively to students. I strongly agree that we continue to practice various types of teaching in schools be it in primary school, secondary school and even university!

One word to describe this course is INCREDIBLE!

WEEK 9: FLIPPED CLASSROOM

As we are going through this virtual learning, there are a lot of things to learn starting from the technologies, the techniques and the patterns of studying or learning. Flipped classrooms is the blended learning that we usually do at university even before the pandemic. My favorite flipped classroom would be GOOGLE CLASSROOM. The reason why I like Google Classroom is because it is the easiest to handle. 

REASONS TO LOVE GOOGLE CLASSROOM

◎ Well organized. Most of the lecturers use Google classroom as medium to deliver their lessons by giving us pre-recorded lectures video. The videos also don't have expiry date so students are able to watch it many times and whenever they want.

◎ Convenient. Google classroom not only can be used for instructors to post videos, but also can be a medium to submit assignments for a student. Google classroom is also linked to the Google Drive, making it easier to make a backup file for every tasks/assignments given.

◎ Flexible. It easy for teachers to keep all of their instructional materials in one place. This way, as teachers re-use videos and presentations from class to class or from year to year, it’s easier to stay organized.

◎ User friendly. Google classroom allows user to comment to any post in the classroom to create two-ways interaction between instructors and students. This way, students could understand better and comfortable in learning virtually. 

I think, that is it for this time. Google Classroom has so much to offer. For me, it is the best application that Google has made!

WEEK 8: PREZI. ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF USING PREZI AS PRESENTATION TOOL

 Hi guys! The latest topic on EDU456 WAS AMAZINGGG! No lies. Why? It is because I got to discover new tools to create my presentations. It is PREZI! I can tell that Prezi is a great tool to create presentations. It has so many advantages so disadvantages. 

As for me, I love Prezi because

• I can prepare my presentation easily because of it's motion
• Free
• Has lots of templates
• Unique

But, there are some things that I think Prezi is lacked of. It is probably due to online learning these days that the motion in the presentation might get stuck somewhere because of slow internet connection. Also

• I cannot use Prezi offline. It need internet connection

Overall, Prezi really helps students to create presentations creatively and allows students to access it for free, that is the most important! So I've attached the link to my Prezi work below, have fun! Thank you for reading :D

WEEK 7: ONLINE DISTANCE LEARNING REFLECTION

 I've been staying at home for nearly a year and a half now. I never thought that I would have spent so much time at home since I'm already 20 (foundation/diploma/degree students are supposed to be at university). But here we are, learning from home starting from the beginning of semester 1 until now. During this period of time, I've learnt so much about technology compared to the old days when it was till face to face engagement. I will never regret the times I had during ODL if one day, the Corona virus will be gone forever haha!

The greatest thing that I've learnt throughout this ODL:

Learning new technology that I never know existed!

It's such a shame that I never tried to use online applications for my education such as Padlet, LMS, COOC and many more as my learning tools. But it's never too late to try them! I used to hate using online platform just because it is troublesome and I did not know how to use it but I realize that it is a lot more easier to use online platform learning during learning period to make our learning routine organisable. Online education enable us, students to set our own learning pace, and there's the added flexibility of setting a schedule that fits everyone's agenda. It allow us to balance our daily routine and studies so that we will never be missed out unlike the face to face learning that if you missed one class, then you will never have that class again. 

Online learning tool that amazed me the most is MOOC. I found out that this MOOC application works like an online tuition that costs you RM0 to attend. Also, we can connect with the people around the world to communicate about education even with engineers, doctors and professors!

WEEK 6: LESSON PLAN ON CELL BIOLOGY

Lesson is very crucial for every educator to deliver their lesson. As a future educator, I want to make sure that the lessons that I will be delivering to students are organized and detailed to achieve the purposes of the lessons. The types of lesson plans are varies for different grades students. It's important to make a lesson plan according to our students' ability. Below is the lesson plan for science students in a secondary school in Kuantan, Pahang. In this lesson plan, We've included the method of instruction, the details of the lessons, time, platform, objectives, closure and assessment and evaluation. The aims are to make students understand while having fun connecting with their friends. There's no "no talking in my classroom". I'll make sure to conduct the two-ways learning process so that they are not scared to ask questions in class. I realized that stopping students from speaking-up in classroom will only make them lost interest in the learning process.

WEEK 5: Learning Management System (LMS) as Innovative Technological Tool for education!

We meet again, buddy! Hope you're doing just fine despite all the things that happened around you be it good or less-good aha!

    We been knew that this pandemic is not gonna end in anytime around or at least it's not this year in 2021. So innovative technological tool for education helps many educators out there to fulfill their responsibility as an educator. There are a lot of educational tool that it's impossible for me to list it all down here such as MOOC, Padlet, LMS and many more. So for this entry, I chose to have LMS as the most interesting innovative technological tool for education. 

What is LMS?

LMS  stands for Learning Management System. The reason why I think this tool is interesting because

⦿ Saving time and money

    -We can't deny that most of the time, we would always look up for something that consume little time and money. And of course the most important thing is that we can access it anywhere we are! Just a click, and you're ready!

⦿ Advanced features 

    - With LMS, you can create fun quizzes for students. LMS is a built-in gamification tool that allows us to create various kind of educational games.

⦿ Efficient

    - This tool also allow us to track our student's performance by checking the data and statistic provided in the report. 

WEEK 4: CREATING ANIMATION USING POWERPOINT!

 

        In my opinion, animation plays a crucial role in making an engaging learning among students these days. Just like what I have stated in my first entry, "an effective teaching and an engaging learning are linked together". It means a successful teaching happens when the students managed to meet their expectations about the learning especially biology's students that are not able to see the tiniest creatures they're learning (virus, bacteria etc) since we don't have specific tool to do so which is microscope coz we're at home! So, animations can bring the concept of what they are learning to life 😆 I believe that using animation in teaching can increase the curiosity in students' mind and making them want to know more. For me, that is the purpose of teaching when students keep wanting for more after they learn about something.

        My forever-favourite animation movie is "The Secret World of Arrietty". This movie was my first Japan-animated movie that I watched when I was 12 years old. I was amazed of how an animated movie could make you feel like you are in the movie! The imagination of the author of this movie had successfully making the stories seem to be connected in the real world. What's more interesting in this movie is that it is full of little details as if you could understand the movie even when there's no subtitle 😎
