WEEK 4: CREATING ANIMATION USING POWERPOINT!

In my opinion, animation plays a crucial role in making an engaging learning among students these days. Just like what I have stated in my first entry, "an effective teaching and an engaging learning are linked together". It means a successful teaching happens when the students managed to meet their expectations about the learning especially biology's students that are not able to see the tiniest creatures they're learning (virus, bacteria etc) since we don't have specific tool to do so which is microscope coz we're at home! So, animations can bring the concept of what they are learning to life 😆 I believe that using animation in teaching can increase the curiosity in students' mind and making them want to know more. For me, that is the purpose of teaching when students keep wanting for more after they learn about something.

My forever-favourite animation movie is "The Secret World of Arrietty". This movie was my first Japan-animated movie that I watched when I was 12 years old. I was amazed of how an animated movie could make you feel like you are in the movie! The imagination of the author of this movie had successfully making the stories seem to be connected in the real world. What's more interesting in this movie is that it is full of little details as if you could understand the movie even when there's no subtitle 😎

WEEK 3: GRAMMAR CHECKING TOOLS

Salam Ramadan Mubarak to all Muslims who're reading my post! Today I'm gonna talk about Turnitin and Grammarly! We must have been familiar with these three precious tools as they are considered as favourable tools among students and researchers.

First and foremost, let's talk about Grammarly. Grammarly is an application that helps with grammar, spelling and usage, wordiness, style, punctuation and even plagiarism. In 2019, Grammarly came up with a new feature called "Tone Detector". This feature helps us to convey the right tone in our writing and hence increasing user's confidence in their writing.

Next is Turnitin! Turnitin is an application that allows us to check written assignments for plagiarism from public online sources as well as its own database of student work. It also checks spelling and grammar errors. All these three features work together, all at once which is time-saving especially for students that got tons of assignments to do with deadlines. But, this application lacks the "tone detector" that grammarly has.

So apparently, as for me, I prefer finalising my writing  using Turnitin before pasting into Grammarly for proofread purposes before submitting them to lecturers. This is because these two tools have their own specialities. I can't say which tools are better because Turnitin is superior in terms of checking plagiarism however Grammarly is more superior in checking for grammatical errors. I conclude that Grammarly is the best grammar checking tools for students to check their works or assignments! It's easy and very student friendly.

I think… that’s it for now. Thank you for reading!

WEEK 2: ADDIE MODEL (ANALYSIS FOR KAHOOT)

 YEEE HAW WE MEET AGAIN!

So here's another episode of my weekly entry and this time I'll be posting about ADDIE model in analysis part. But first thing first, what is ADDIE? So, ADDIE model apparently is the most popular of all. ADDIE model is leading e-Learning methodology to this day. Very interesting!

So I'm picking Kahoot as a tool my analysis in ADDIE model. Kahoot is an engaging student-friendly teaching and learning tool with a mobile and tablet friendly game-based pedagogy. It is simple, fast drag and drop interface. Teachers and students can create and manage Kahoot in form of quizzes, surveys or even polls. Kahoot also works as a supplement to the lecture and classroom activity. It focuses on how you learn, not what you learn!

WEEK 1: INTRODUCTION ABOUT ME AND MY EXPECTATIONS FOR EDU456 SUBJECT

Hi and good day to all my readers!

A little bit about myself since we are in virtual learning, I'm Ayuni from ED2472A and I'm 20 years old. Previously, I studied at UiTM Dengkil Campus in foundation in science for a one-year programme.

In education, I believe that an effective teaching and an engaging learning are linked together. So, learning about the technology in teaching will enhance the effectiveness of the teaching as well as the learning. So through this particular subject, I expect to learn, understand and dig more about technologies that could improve both teaching and learning be it virtually or face-to-face for my references to the future me as a teacher. When both parties, teachers and students are engaged with technologies, I'm very sure that the purposes of teaching and learning in the 21st century could be achieved successfully. While brainstorming for this entry, I came across a quote by George Couros that said "Technology will never replace great teachers, but technology in the hands of great teachers is transformational" and I strongly agree with him. The quote explains that technologies are right there to help teachers to transform their classrooms, students and the future. In this subject, I'm also expecting to learn how to apply the knowledge that I will learn in your class to reality and I'm willing to learn every value of this subject!

Sometimes, it is the expectations that will keep someone to go on with their life. If there are no expectations, there will be no target. When there is no target, there will be no dreams. We must keep on  dreaming, dreaming and keep dreaming until our dreams come true. Expecting it to become reality will become our strength to keep on chasing our dreams,  our goals in this life! Fightingggg!!! 😉 I'm looking forward to meeting you soon in our class, Dr. Norazah!
